India lifts hunting ban after tiger kills ten

The authorities used paw prints to identify the killer animal An ageing tigress that has gained a taste for human flesh is being blamed for the worst spate of attacks on people in India for 50 years. The latest victim, Ram Charan, a 45-year-old labourer, was attacked and partly eaten on Sunday. He had left his vehicle and walked into a forest to relieve himself near the village of Kalagarh, close to the Jim Corbett National Park in northern India. Colleagues rushed to help, but by the time they reached him he was dead. The animal had eaten parts of his leg and abdomen. Hundreds of forest officials fanned out.
