Oghiadomhe resigned to pursue political ambition – Presidency

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, has confirmed the resignation of the Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe. Abati, in an interview with State House correspondents, said Oghiadomhe resigned to pursue his political ambition in line with President Goodluck Jonathan’s recent directive to members of the Federal Executive Council who have political ambitions to resign. THE PUNCH had reported exclusively on January 28 that government officials with political ambitions should resign latest by February. It will however be recalled that there will be no governorship election in Edo State where the erstwhile Chief of Staff hails from till 2017 since Governor Adams Oshiomhole started his second term last year. It is however not clear if Oghiadomhe is planning to contest National Assembly election. ————————————— There is uncertainty currently in Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday as news filtered to the workers that the Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Mike Oghiadome, had been sacked. Though, Oghiadome’s sacking had not been officially confirmed, our correspondent observed that the Chief of Staff was not in his office while none of his aides was ready to disclose his whereabouts. Some Villa workers also gathered in groups to discuss the reported removal of the former deputy governor of Edo State. None of Jonathan’s information management’s team could volunteer to confirm the sacking of Oghiadome as most of them said they had not been mandated to confirm or issue a statement on the development.
